Realize is hosting (co-hosting) two networking zones in the Global Village at the International AIDS Conference in Munich, Germany, July 21-25, 2024
The Silver Zone
The European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG) and Realize are co-organising “The Silver Zone: A Networking Zone for Older People Living with HIV.
Globally, the face of HIV is an ageing one. Although in supportive systems people are living longer with access to effective treatments, many older adults living with HIV and HIV Long-Term Survivors are coping with the lasting impact of untreated HIV, age-related comorbidities and loss. Many feel isolated and uncertain about the future.
The Silver Zone is a place for older people living with HIV to re-engage with the HIV community and follow the science on HIV and ageing; to feel included and celebrated.
To find out more about the Silver Zone and see a full schedule of all of the activities taking place visit the Silver Zone online through the EATG website.
The Disability Networking Zone
Realize is hosting the Disability Networking Zone (DNZ) in the Global Village of the International AIDS Conference in Munich, Germany, July 21-26, 2024.
Currently, disability and rehabilitative services are scarce and accessing support services that exist can be very difficult due to eligibility criteria, cost, and diagnosis requirements. In addition, many HIV-related services are not fully equipped to meet the needs of people with disabilities as service providers are not aware of how to support these individuals. Disability services are rarely linked up with existing HIV-services to make the latter more disability inclusive.
Our focus in the DNZ is to build connections and strengthen understanding of the intersection of HIV and disability while supporting those who live at the intersection of these communities.
